In 1958,a group of dedicated philanthropic people founded the Bapuji Educational Association. Which flourished, to the extent of having nearly 40 Institutions under its umbrella, comprising almost every discipline of education. In the year 1982 the Bapuji Educational Association celebrated its Silver Jubilee, which was inaugurated by Shree GYANI ZAIL SINGH, the honorable President of India.

Bapuji Institute of Engineering & Technology was established during the academic year 1979-80 with the initiative and foresight of members of Bapuji Association on the approval from Govt.of Karnataka,and is duly alfiliated to Vishveswarya Technological University (VTU). The institute is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education New Delhi (AICTE). At present Institute offers twelve undergraduate and five post graduate programmes in Engineering & Management. Eight departments Seven under VTU & one under kuvempu University are recognized as research centres. Nine departments of undergraduate course are accredited for a period of three years(2004-2007). National River Conservation Directorate under Ministry of Environment & forest Govt. of India has recognised this Institute as “ Reputed Scientific Institute”.

The Institutes quality policy, to acieve quality in higher technical education consists of:

“ Inculcating the concepts of Descipline, punctuality and ethics into the thinking process of students and thus to promote their overall growth”

• Motivating the teachers to impart knowledge by continuous interaction with students within the framework of rules and regulations of the university.
• Carryout objective evaluation of performance of students.
• Enhancing the Academic skills of the faculty through the faculty development programmes
• Creating an atmosphere conducive to research in the campus.
