Bapuji Institute of Engineering & Technology, Davangere was established during the academic year 1979-1980 with the initiative and foresight of members of Bapuji Educational Association, on approval from Govt. of Karnataka and is duly affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.
The campus has an area of 69 acres with a built up area of 47,886 sq.mtr. The institute provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The hostels which can accommodate nearly 800 students create a homely environment and comfortable stay in the campus. The hostels have residential facilities like boarding, common reading room, TV, Indoor and outdoor games and gymnasium. The college has a beautiful guest house to provide hospitality to visiting dignitaries, officials, faculty and others. The college has well equipped sports department and provide the following sports facilities:- Tennis, Cricket, Foot ball, Hockey, Basket Ball, Gymnasium, Shuttle Court and Table Tennis.
The college library has a collection of more than 38,000 volumes and 200 journals. The six branches of our institute namely Civil, Mechanical, Industrial Production, Electrical, Electronics and Textiles have been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. The campus is also having medical, canteen, banking and co-operative society facilities. Three departments namely Mechanical, Industrial Production and Textiles have been recognized as research centers. Environmental science laboratory is recognized by Central Pollution Control Board under Environmental protection act 1986, Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Govt. of India.
Bapuji Institute of Engineering & Technology is having well qualified teaching and supporting staff whose number is about 350. The institute has 15 computer centers with LAN facilities. More than 300 computers are connected by a campus wide network with internet facilities. The laboratories of all the departments are well equipped with necessary infrastructure. The institute is having Placement Cell, R & D facilities, Product Development Cell (PDC), NCC, NSS, Survey and IGNOU Study Centre. Testing & Consultancy are also provided by the Institute. The institute conducts regularly staff development programmes, conferences and seminars. Students take part in sports and cultural activities organised by the Institute as well as the university. In short the management has provided all the facilities along with the infrastructure as per the requirements and for the benefit of the students. The management has plans to provide a Swimming Pool and Indoor Hall in the campus very shortly. The management encourages top students of the Institute by giving them awards and honours.
