Shri Shamanur S. Mallikarjun served as Hon’ble Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports during 2000-2004. A young and popular politician and industrialist. Mr. Mallikarjun has been successfully working for the welfare of the general public, particularly the downtrodden and economically weaker sections of the society. This has been possible due to his inbuilt dedication to social service from his childhood. Mr. S.S. Mallikarjun, himself being a sportsman, loves the game of cricket and shuttle badminton. His penchant towards sports is the reason why he was selected as Vice-President of the Karnataka State Olympic Association. He has rendered meritorious services in this post. Apart from this, he is serving as Joint Secretary of Bapuji Educational Association. He served as a Syndicate Member of Kuvempu University. He has also served as a Senate Member in the Rajiv Gandhi Health University. Under his leadership 33rd National women sport meet was conducted in Davangere in the year 2000. First time in Davangere A.T.P. Tournament was conducted by constructing 4 international standard synthetic courts during 2003. He rejuvenated the swimming pool a long felt desire of the locals to have a full-pledged swimming pool during his resume as a minister in Davangere during 2002. His meritorious contribution for the weaker section is the construction of 21,491 Ashrya Houses in Davangere district by this work he is probably No. 1 minister who has achieved this target in our country in a record time of 3 years. He as district minister managed successfully the severe drought situation faced by the district for consecutive 3 years during 2000-2003. |
