About the department

Computer Science & Business Systems is a specialised undergraduate programme designed with Tata Consultancy Services to meet the demands of a fast-moving IT industry. The curriculum, developed by global industry experts together with academia, integrates analytics, deep learning, machine learning, cloud computing and the internet of things, so that graduates are equipped for Industry 4.0 and what follows it. It also carries humanities, value-added sciences and related subjects, making for a rounded education.

The programme admits 60 students and commenced in 2023. The department runs state-of-the-art infrastructure including high-speed internet and wireless networks, and its faculty bring teaching and research experience along with active industry-institute collaboration. Graduates are expected to be sought after for the combination of technical and business understanding the programme is built around.

Dr. Vinutha H P
Professor & Head

Head of Computer Science and Business Systems, and also of Information Science and Engineering, with 18 years of experience and a PhD in computer science and engineering. She has served as NIRF coordinator and as Dean of the Incubation Centre. Her research runs to intrusion detection and artificial intelligence, and she holds a patent for an AI-based antenna for 5G. She has organised workshops and hackathons, taken part in programmes run by IBM and Infosys, and is a member of ISTE, IEEE and the Institution of Engineers.
