About the department
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering started in 1979 with an intake of 40, raised to 60 in 2009-10 on demand for the course. Department has state-of-the-art infrastructure. Department is duly recognized and accredited by National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi. The Department of Electrical Engineering has qualified and young faculty members. It offers quality research in the Ph.D. Program. The department takes on industry-sponsored research and consultancy.

- 02Able to design, develop and analysis of Modern Electric & Electronics systems and allied interdisciplinary areas using Conventional methods & Modern tools.
- 03Aware of the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal, environmental context, professional ethics and be able to communicate effectively.
Head of department

Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Adichunchanagiri Institute of Technology, Chikkamangaluru (1994) and a Master's in Biomedical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal (2000), with a doctorate from Visveswaraya Technological University Belgaum in 2019. Joined BIET as a lecturer, became Professor in 2024, with 26 years of teaching, six years of research in biomedical instrumentation and bio-signal processing, and three years of industrial experience.
He has published in national and international journals, with patent grants and designs to his name, and is a life member of ISTE, FIETE and IEI. He is currently Professor and Head of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department and also Associate Dean, Controller of Examination Affairs. Commissioned as Lieutenant from OTA Kamptee, he served the institute as NCC officer for 16 years, and has guided several UG and PG projects.
