The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering started in 1979 with an intake of 40, raised to 60 in 2009-10 on demand for the course. Department has state-of-the-art infrastructure. Department is duly recognized and accredited by National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi. The Department of Electrical Engineering has qualified and young faculty members. It offers quality research

Dr. Alok Kumar Bharati earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from BIET affiliated to VTU, Belagavi in 2009, where he secured a college-level Gold medal. He earned his master's degree (M.Tech) in power electronics and power systems from the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT H) in 2011. He worked with General Electric (GE) from 2011-2017 in R&D of low-voltage switchgear with 4 granted patents and 4 patent applications. He won several awards at GE for his outstanding work that include 11 additional patentable ideas filed as GE Invention Disclosures. After a successful stint at GE, he is received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University, Ames, IA, USA in 2021. His current research includes renewable energy integration in the power grid and associated challenges and opportunities, T&D co-simulation and role of T&D interactions in power system stability
