About the department
The Indian textile industry is heading towards radical change, and much of the responsibility for that falls to the technical institutions that train its technocrats. The Department of Textile Technology at BIET works towards technical excellence in textile education with that in view.
The department sets out to offer both a serious textile education and a campus that draws students from across the country, and takes as its philosophy that work is worship. Its students aim at excellence, efficiency and effectiveness in what they take on, and the department sees its task as sowing that work culture and then carefully nurturing it in those who graduate from here.

Our vision
To be the center of excellence in textile education, besides serving the society by undertaking various innovative research, industry and society related activities.
Mission
- 01To impart the basic science, engineering, textile, garment and fashion education for the growth and development of the students by providing effective teaching and learning processes.
- 02To impart practical/research knowledge through industrial training and projects.
- 03To empower the students with positive approach and presentation skills by conducting workshops and conferences.
- 04To inculcate ethical values of various virtues, which enable them to become successful textile technologists and good citizens of the nation.

- 01Graduates of the program will have successful career in manufacturing, quality assurance, product development and technical sales segments of textile industry.
- 02Graduates can inculcate research capabilities in various textile technology fields to innovate new products and adopt themselves in the world of constantly evolving technology.
- 03Graduates will apply acquired knowledge in solving technological challenges of the textile industry.
- 04Graduates will exhibit entrepreneurship, leadership quality, team work and incorporate societal needs to practice their profession with high level of legal and ethical responsibilities.

- 01The students will be capable of designing and developing various textile products and control and improve the various manufacturing processes and quality of textile products.

Dr.Dinesh Y.N
Professor & HOD
B.Tech in textile technology from GSKSJTI Bangalore in 1990, taking second rank, a Master's from IIT Delhi in 1993 and a VTU doctorate in 2019. He taught at Rural Engineering College Hulkoti from 1993 and joined BIET in 1995, becoming Professor and Head in 2021. He has published in national and international journals and has worked as project assistant and coordinator on several sponsored research projects.
